The Inn Bayrischer Hof was bought in 1948 by Ignaz and Johanna Platzer (the current owner's grandparents, KR Helmut Platzer) and opened on 12 April 1949 by Stephanie and Rudolf Platzer after numerous renovations. At the beginning, the focus was on preparing food and drinks, so the accommodation became more and more important over time. In 1972, the addition of a stretch of housing was inevitable and therefore also a significant change in the direction of the hotel's future as a hotel. In 1984 and 1989 the penthouse was enlarged and the Bayrischer Hof received its 3 stars. Due to constant renovation and modernization, the Bayrischer Hof has developed into 50 rooms and a first-class hotel with around 90 beds.
Helmut and Helene Platzer bought the neighbouring house of the Charwat family in 2004 and transformed this city-style house into a new four stars hotel. Named after his daughter, the 4 stars Hotel Alexandra has 23 rooms and since March 2005 has been a reference point for Wels' active hotel industry.
While in 1981 nine employees were employed, 18 employees and 2 apprentices are already working for the company. Even today, the two hotel businesses of KR Helmut Platzer and his daughter Alexandra Platzer have continued and kept up-to-date with constant adaptations, expansions and modern conversions.
Currently, the 3 stars Hotel Bayrischer Hof and the 4 stars Hotel Alexandra have earned the title "We are the Climate Alliance" and "Austrian Ecological Labels for Tourist Enterprises".
